Powerutils 1.8

What the users have to say....

Hi There,

Once again your powerutils made my day. The feature of joining data in two columns was a god send as I had to transfer a hell of a lot of data from one sheet to another in different formats.

Awaiting your version 1.8 eagerly.

With find/replace we cant replace the character "?" with any other . Any suggestions?

Thanks and all the Best,

Yazdi

Hi Prasanta, I am a Chartered Accountant and working in MIS and Accounts department of a medium-sized MNC.  I got to know of your powerutils addin created by you through the group.  Could you throw some more light on the same,  Also, if possible could you please send the zipped version of the addin.

 Thanks

Dear Mr. Prasant,
Hello.
I have been using the the addin for such conversion but there is one problem, if we want to print the cheque based on this addin the words "Rupees " appears twice on the cheque because on cheques word "Rupees " is already  printed.  I think your new version of addin wil be helpful to me . Please send the relevant file to me.
with best regards,
Ravi Teltia

Dear Sir,

Indeed this is a great utility for the excel user but I faced few errors after installing it. I may be wrong but I hope you can check the same for ur final release:

1. Not able to use undo - redo functions for the functions performed through new menu bar

2. In a password protected sheet - I am not able to unprotect the sheet after installing it moreover it is not giving the error message for wrong password & the error message that it gives when we try to use protected cells.

I am still working on the same & if I find something new I'll surely bring it to your notice.

Kindly acknowledge the receipt

Hi Prasanta,

I thought you might like to know that there is a typo in your homepage, where it says “pease” should be “please” I think.

I’ll take a look at it over the next few days

Good luck with the addin.

Happy New Year

 Keith

Prasanta, I have downloaded your Power Utilities and taken a quick look at them. I too have written a large number of utilities and am facing the same problem as you with respect to memory usage.

While some of my utility have the same functionality as yours, many carry our completely different functionality. Should you be interested, I am prepared to share these with you in a collaborative manner to provide a truly powerful set of excel facilities.  If you have an interest in developing a more powerful set of facilities through collaboration, let me know.

Attached is an Excel worksheet with copy of the help file for my routines to give you a feel for the overlap and the different functionality.

Cheers

Bill D (Toronto Canada)

Hi Prasanta

I have had a look at the addin and appears to be very useful. I look forward to seeing the new releases. As and when I use the functionality I can provide you with feedback.

I first came across your software in the current issue of CHIP, and have since then visited well laid out your web page. I have had the pleasure of using your utilities, and have faced the following problems with 3 of the routines:

(a) Menu Item: Sheet

sub menu: Create clickable Index sheet.....problem :   Routine exits with Error Code 1004 after inserting the new sheet

(b) Menu Item: Columns and Rows sub menu: Insert "N" rows after every Row problem : Routine exits with Error Code 438

(c) Menu Item: Miscellaneous sub menu: Color cells which are Numbers problem : the routine identifies 'text-numbers' as Numbers. (same logic is true for menu "color cells which are text")

Is it possible the problems are caused by usage of functions specific to Excell 2000 ? I use Excel 97 on Win 2000 Pro.

Thanking you once again for this collection of very useful functions.

The article on Power tips for Office users was a very good idea – could have been a bit more advanced though. I found the section on Excel – managing personal finances- extremely basic. We hardly tend to use even 50% of Excel’s potential. Maybe you could come up with a regular feature exploring Excel and Word.

Thanks also to Mr Prasanta Gupta for the Power Tools Utilities and I look forward to more updates from him. Meanwhile I am attaching a file – a creation of my own which I use for managing my finances. Although many Finance websites offer such Portfolio Management facilities, I am yet to find one which is user friendly, easy to enter data and keep updated. Plus one has to be online to do the job. So I made one of my own. Please feel free to distribute it to anyone interested.

I do hope Mr Gupta can incorporate some of these features in Power Utilities.

Dear Prasant,

I learnt about you from chip of this month. You have been doing excellent work for excel users. In fact in our country there are many excel users who need help sometime or other on many aspects. For them your web site could be eden garden ):. On other hand Microsoft should pay you for helping users of its product, Excel.

Ha, I wanted to say that you have put so much of effort to discover (if not invent) many things in Excel and also you want to share the same with others FREE, good thought. Better make your web site more attractive. Let people at least visit your web site and know you (don't be a saint by not expecting anything).

Believe me, I am not at all a fan of Microsoft, still I like its product Excel and acknowledge number of users. Perhaps I can help you maintain your web site (for FREE of course :D) if you wish. Well, even if you don't wish, never mind, I still wish you all the best for your efforts.

All the best.....
